"When I'm painting I am relying on instinct to guide me. I've learned that intention is valuable, but ultimately thinking too hard robs me of the thrill of the intuitive process. I work mostly with acrylics and soft pastels and occasionally add decoupaged materials. My completed pieces typically reflect my love of texture, the simplicity of subdued neutrals, and deep warm colors found in nature. I have an indescribable fondness for variations of orange, yellow and brown. These colors give me comfort by being so natural and abundant. They surround me, in the woodwork of my home, in the leaves as they change, in the rust on an old iron gate, and they often find their way to my art. I paint for the sake of the creative process, trusting in it and hoping that my finished work reflects that."
